Ron Thompson, President of Midland Resources, serves as Regional Sales Director for Midland National, supporting financial professionals in the North, South and East Coast of Florida, since 1983. With over 40 years in the industry, Ron is able to offer strategic planning, business development and sales support tailored to fit each individual financial professional’s specific goals for business growth.

Ron started in the life insurance industry in 1976 and has over 40 years of experience and success. He joined Midland National as a General Agent in September 1981 before becoming a Regional Sales Director in West Virginia in 1983. He moved to Florida in 1987 where he’s served as the Regional Sales Director for the state ever since. In 2012, Ron was recognized as one of Midland National’s RSDs of the Year with a paid annualization premium in excess of $4,000,000. 

Education & Certification

Ron received his formal education from Marshall University and served in the United States Air Force. He holds his Series 6, 7, 24 and 63 licenses from FINRA


Ron lives in Ocala with his wife, Cindy. Their two older sons, Caleb and Trevor, graduated with their Masters from Clemson University (Go Tigers) and live in Greenville, SC. Their son, Isaiah, is currently attending Furman University in Greenville, SC. When he’s not working, Ron enjoys golfing and coaching basketball. His and Cindy’s favorite pastime is meeting their boys at their lake house and spending time together as a family there on the weekends.
